The first Eurovision Young Musicians final was held at the Free Trade Hall in Manchester, United Kingdom on 11 May 1982.
Musicians from six countries participated in the televised final. They were all accompanied by the BBC Northern Symphony Orchestra. The Norwegian participant also represented Denmark.
It was also notable that in 1982 Germany also won the Eurovision Song Contest.
